Hey everyone, what’s up? I am back with another slice of my coding journey. In this post, I’m taking a look back at what’s been going on up until March—a time full of coding marathons, side projects, business, and a bit of nostalgia from campus life. Here it goes, A Look Back Before March.
Rust & TUI Framework Development
I’ve been deep into Rust lately—it’s got that familiar C/C++ vibe with a dash of Go’s smarts, and honestly, it’s been a blast if not exhausting (it was fine, the code is written well, so I could find the solutions easily). While most people stick with standard UI frameworks such as ratatui, I decided to build my very own: SideUI, for my beloved neovim based terminal IDE. Think of it as a DIY terminal UI that mixes raw efficiency with a Neovim-like minimalism. Sure, I’ve had my fair share of ownership bugs and layout headaches, but every breakthrough makes it all worth it.
And yes, I know that this is completely unnecessary and ratatui is great as it is. Yes, You are completely right. What about learning by mistakes tho? I need to understand how rust accesses internal processes like enabling raw mode, alternating screens and how do we simulate rendering inside terminal UI’s.
AR Adventures with Godot
On top of the Rust chaos and SideUI madness, I have been thinking about getting back into Godot. The idea of developing AR applications for Meta’s Quest platform using Godot just amuses me. This mix of creative coding and immersive tech is definitely out of the box, yet super exciting. It’s like stepping into a new realm where the only limit is how far I’m willing to push the envelope. And I would love to contribute to the goal. I just like VR and AR technologies and sadly, meta did a great job (although it was oculus’s research…).
Campus Vibes in Türkiye
With the new semester kicking off here in Türkiye, I have to admit, even though I haven’t missed the study stress or skipped a single lecture, I do miss my lecturers, instructors, and friends. There’s something about the energy of campus life that just can’t be replicated online. Balancing code and campus, I find myself reflecting on those good old days while still powering through my projects.
What’s Next?
Every day brings a new challenge—whether I’m fine-tuning SideUI, experimenting with AR on the Quest, or juggling studies and coding. With Rust’s strength and Godot’s creativity, I’m learning tons and having a blast along the way. Expect more updates as these projects evolve and as I navigate the ups and downs of both coding and college life.
PS: I’ve started playing Lego Fortnite, how do we get blast cores really? Can someone explain?
Stay tuned for more adventures, and thanks for riding this journey with me!
Happy coding!
